We do not know if this is the case for all Circuit City stores. This is said to be done by stores as they know it will bring extra traffic to their stores on that day in one big lump as opposed to the random folks that happen to find the minor amounts they do get in during the week. I would be willing to wager this is something all of the big players are doing so if you’re looking for a Wii, your best bet is going to be waiting until Sunday and hitting them all up.
