Now this is something the wife and I could both use. Wii Fit makes losing weight and toning up certain areas look like so much fun, you just might forget you’re playing a video game. Ok maybe you’ll feel the burn just enough to keep reminding you that you are in fact burning calories, but this is still going to be tons of fun for many, especially after seeing some results.

For a while now, people have found that certain video games can get people moving enough to cause them to lose weight over time. Dancing rhythm games like Dance Dance Revolution has been responsible for many pounds being shed and recently many people have been trying the Wii Sports challenges where they too have lost weight by playing the various sports mini games on the Wii. Titles like Wii Fit seem to only take this ball and run with it and from what it seems, Nintendo is taking a very serious approach at this area of video gaming. Lets take a look at the promotional video which shows a few of the activities that will be included in the game:

Some of that stuff can make you sore after one session I am sure. With stats tracking and challenges akin to the Brain Age line of games, Wii Fit should be easy to get into and keep up with while making the activities fun so that you perhaps forget all about the “hey I’m working out” thing. Here’s some more shots of people playing Wii Fit and the board itself:

Think of the possibilities of the board itself! If it can measure balancing on each side and probably weight, what kind of game interactivity does that open up for skateboarding titles? Even a Track and Field type game could put you to the test, if it’s not already part of Wii Fit.

Overall, I welcome the fitness line of video games and only hope they are more successful than what we had back in the day on the NES:

What are they wearing!? *Eyuck!*
