Ahh yes.. Another year, more resolutions and predictions! A couple of my own resolutions have included giving up a couple of vices (chewing my fingernails mainly) and getting back into shape (OF COURSE!). Wii Sports should help me out with that! ;) As for predictions, I predict the Nintendo Wii will outpace the XBOX 360 in 6 to 8 months max and the PS3 will continue to not sell very well compared to the other two systems with the PS2 outselling it all year. SSBM, Metroid Prime 3, and Mario Galaxy will be released with great positive reactions from the gaming base and Wii Play in the US will be seen as a great addition to the lineup for the new and older gamers alike alongside Wii Sports. The DS will never stop selling like hotcakes. The Wii will also get more colors late in 2007 and maybe even a price drop that will really heat up the console wars. Now, those are all my predictions, what predictions do you have for 2007? Let us know in the comments here! On with some Wii Bits for today!
- Ever heard the argument “Nintendo should just merge with this company” or “Nintendo is losing the console war, why don’t they fold up shop..”? Take a look at this stock chart for Nintendo as it’s going up and up and up for them in the past year. Way to go Nintendo, thanks to GoNintendo.com for the headsup. Also, for fun, here’s a chart comparing growth for Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft.
- Here’s an interesting contraption built for the Wii Remote, it’s a makeshift gun shell made from Lego’s and although slightly heavy by the makers own accord, it works great with any shooters you may currently have. Very creative, here’s hoping we see that official Nintendo gun shell soon enough.
- John Gaudiosi from The Daily News picks the Nintendo Wii as his console of the year with the follwing blurb:
No gaming system is likely to expand video games to the mass market more than Wii. Despite the weird name, it’s the most accessible game platform out there, thanks to its motion-sensor controls that entice gamers to get off the couch and physically get into the games. The included Wii Sports games alone make this $250 system worth the price.
Yes! Even more mainstream press giving the Wii proper credit for it’s achievements thusfar with the Wii. It’s good to see this and it’s exactly what Nintendo had planned. The one two punch of the DS and Wii is making this one of the best times to be a gamer.
- Computer and Video Games (dot com) has their list of the Top 10 games to watch on the Wii in 2007 and I’m looking forward to most of those, especially Metroid, Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros., and Disaster.
- Here’s another person doing a Nintendo Wii workout program, for 30 days, he will follow a strict regimen of playing the more active games on the Wii and charting his success. He’s going to try to post every day with his results, so keep an eye on his blog if you’re interested. We’ll do a followup with his progress as it goes as well if he sticks to it.
Alrighty then, I’ve got more news to come on the site here and I’m also working on a video of Castlevania IV from the Virtual Console so keep checking back! Thanks for visiting The Wii Experience and have a great new year!
