Welcome to March! Now that we’ve wrapped up our Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time review, we’re going to go back through and finish off all of the Zelda’s in the series, starting with Zelda:Link to the Past from the Virtual Console. We’ve already finished the NES version again although I suppose we could do the 2nd quest in the game for extra bonus. We eventually want to beat Link to the Past, then Ocarina of Time, then Wind Waker, and finally Twilight Princess. If they release Zelda II for the VC, we’ll tackle that one as well. I say “we” as the wife enjoys playing through them also and she’s been a great help burning through Ocarina of Time in the past week.
I’ve seen people in comment sections and other forums asking “Which game should I get for my Wii besides Zelda and Wii Sports?” and I normally reply “Excitetruck!!” I cannot hit home enough how most of the reviews about this game totally understated how much fun the game is. The game is a blast and to hit that point home, I’m going to start an “Excitetruck Video Marathon” for a couple of weeks where I go through each and every track in the game, videoing me racing one track per day, and posting the video here for everyone to enjoy. I’ll be playing on Excite Mode with various vehicles and start my way on the Bronze series and make my way on through Diamond. I hope the videos can entice at least one person into giving the game a shot through rental or purchase as you are missing out on a ton of fun if you don’t give the game a go. Look for the first video to show up today!
Ok, on with some Wii Bits:
- Looking for lots of friends for your Wii? Check out WiiPals.net, they have a huge list of folks adding their Wii Friends codes.
- If you’ve got the money, honey, he’s got the ride. Check out this eBay auction for the Scion XB, customized by Comedy Central and Nintendo for their “Thanksgiving Wiikend” promotion.
- Is there a ghost in the system? Or just some crazy burn in on this guys screen? Sites are reporting that a ghostly “Add Mic” feature can be seen on a certain Wii menu when you are running 480p and go through a simple routine. Anyone care to try it out and put this to rest? As of yet, it’s a huge rumor.
- More analysts, more predictions. This time, research firm IDC predicts that the Wii will reign supreme in 2007 and 2008 over the PS3 and 360 consoles. This is based on numbers of consoles shipped.
- Here’s an interview The Hub magazine did with Reggie Fils-Aimes in .pdf form. In it they discuss the Wii, the DS, and the future of both systems.
- And lastly, here’s a positive article concerning what Nintendo did right in 2006! It covers ignoring HD, following Apple’s design methodologies, taking risks, and more.
Ok, I’m off to check the mail, cmoooon Nintendo Power! Or my Component cables, I’d be happy with either one today. Look for the first Excitetruck video to show up today covering the Bronze Mexico track. Should take about a month to cover them all, hope they don’t annoy you guys and gals. The game rocks, I promise!!

Zelda rocks! Still playing through Twilight Princess, but its nice to see the the classics making it onto the VC. If only they could do something about the prices!
Excite Truck kind of left me cold as I thought it would be better. Its also not as fun as they shallow but graphically beautiful Motorstorm.
Also Ive been playing these free games Kuma\War and Dinohunters on the PC. Its fun stuff based on the Source engine from Valve. Its totally free for soem reason Im not sure of but it has no spyware. Check em at http://www.kumagames.com
