Yes! It’s a return of the Wii Bits posts, I plan on bringing these back as a way to cover some of the Wii news that didn’t warrant a full posting as well as a way to cover any kind of site news and/or other Wii goodness.

In case you missed the welcome post, I’m AndyG and what used to be The Wii Experience is now Wii Living and along with the new name and layout will come even more features and in-house items like videos, reviews, and other fun stuff. I’ve already got a few articles in the works and will be bringing you some videos of Virtual Console titles as well as full on Wii games to give you a taste of what they have to offer.

Lately I’ve been enjoying some of the finer GameCube titles like Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 as it’s just amazing to me how some of these older games have held up. If you need some great games to play while we wait for our favorite upcoming Wii games to hit, be sure to grab a Wavebird and give some of the GameCube games a go. I could recommend a few including RE4, and Metroid Prime, but also be sure to check out Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, Super Smash Bros Melee, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario 2, Eternal Darkness, the Monkey Ball games, and on and on.. The GameCube had some great games on the system that you can not only play on your Wii, but you can find them all for fairly cheap, most if not all being under $20. Ok, on with this edition of Wii Bits!

- GameSpot has some new screens from Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 up, I’m looking forward to this as I know a few family members I will be playing this with. After seeing how well a game of golf could be played with the Wii Remote in Wii Sports, I’m interested to see how EA and Tiger Woods will bring it to the next level with a full on game. So far, it’s looking great.

- ZeldaDimension.net found a rather interesting easter egg of sorts in Zelda:TP on a very appropriate day. They noticed while playing on Presidents Day here in the US a picture of what appears to be a famous United States president. Some say it looks like George Washington, others say it’s Thomas Jefferson. Follow the link to make your guess or check out Jovani’s house in the Hyrule Market area to see it for yourself.

- Oh man I would love to see a football game like this in the US, but there’s no word of it coming to this side of the ocean just yet. While Madden 07 is a fantastic football game for the Nintendo Wii, Eyeshield 21 puts a different twist on the genre, bringing a more arcade type feel to the game and is almost minigame-like with it’s controls and gameplay. Check the link there at Japanator.com to see how the two games compare and while it’s style and play may not be for everyone, I think it could be fun and would love to be able to play the game for a change in pace.

- The Nintendo Wii has outsold both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 in January according to Bloomberg.com’s report here. Citing NPD data, the Wii system sold 436,000 units while the 360 and PS3’s sold 294,000 and 244,000 respectively. It seems while the system is still tough to find in stores, they are still selling like hotcakes.

- Castlevania, Zombies At My Neighbors, and TMNT coming to the Virtual Console soon? It just may be true as GoNintendo.com has found an ESRB entry for all three meaning they could be coming in the near future. I loved all three of these titles for the original systems and will be picking them up again if they appear.

- Famitsu has a slew of new Super Paper Mario screens up showing off what the game has to offer for the Wii. The game sounds like a blast from the gameplay ideas I’ve heard and the graphics definitely have a style all their own. Paper Mario 2 for the GameCube was incredibly fun and I can’t wait to see what this one brings to the Wii system.

- If your looking for more thoughts on the recent VC releases, check out this writeup from 1up where they give the latest releases the old thumbs up/thumbs down routine. It’s split right at 50/50 with two games getting a thumbs up and the other two getting the thumbs down.

- And in case you’re interested in some of the better GameCube games, here’s a list from Amazon.com someone made of the “must have” titles and I agree with most of them. About.com also has this list here which had some redundancies but list a few the other missed.

Thanks for reading, have a great Wednesday and let us know what your favorite GameCube games that folks shouldn’t miss in the comments! If you have any comments about the new look and feel of the site, let us know as well as we’d love to hear it.
